چکیده

Background Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by pathogenic bacteria belonging to the genus Leptospira and more than 1 million cases occur worldwide annually. Several mammals may carry the agent, and rats are the most important source of human infection in urban settings. The Leptospira surface proteins have an important role during pathogen infection and some of these allow the differentiation between pathogenic and non-pathogenic species. Among these, the LigA and LigB adhesins are surface localized proteins that interact with the proteins of extracellular matrix and fibrinogen. Therefore, antibodies against these targets are useful tools in immunodiagnostic assays.

Distribution of Anti-leptospira Antibodies in the Sera of Patients Suspected Leptospirosis

Abstract Background and Objective: Leptospirosis is a zoonosis infectious disease that is prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions and is caused by the pathogenic serovars of leptospires. Hence, we aimed at investigating the prevalence of antibodies against these bacteria in the blood samples of suspected leptospirosis. Material and Methods: the human serum samples (N = 130) were ...

Evaluation of monoclonal antibody F9-4 as immunological probe for Leptospira interrogans.

I assayed the lack of reactivity of monoclonal antibody (MAb) F9-4 with nonpathogenic leptospires. Of 47 saprophytic strains tested, 46 did not react in an enzyme immunoassay and 1 was recognized by MAb F9-4, as usually reported with pathogenic Leptospira strains. On the other hand, the MAb did not react with one pathogenic strain, thus showing that the ability of MAb F9-4 to discriminate betwe...

Evaluation of the anti-LipL32 monoclonal antibodies potential for use in leptospirosis immunodiagnostic tests.

LipL32 is the major lipoprotein in the membrane of pathogenic leptospira. In this work, we report on the production of monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against recombinant LipL32 (rLipL32) and on the evaluation of their potential for use as reagents in diagnostic tests for leptospirosis. The MAbs were all of the IgG(2b) isotype and reacted specifically with native LipL32 in pathogenic serovars only...

Monoclonal antibodies reacting with serogroup and serovar specific epitopes on different lipopolysaccharide subunits of Leptospira interrogans serovar pomona.

Monoclonal antibodies with two kinds of specificities, produced against Leptospira interrogans serovar pomona, were studied by agglutination and immunoblotting. Antibodies reacted either exclusively with serovar pomona or with all members of the Pomona serogroup, but none of the antibodies reacted with representative serovars of other serogroups. Both antibodies recognized epitopes on purified ...

Production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies to the EDTA extract of Leptospira interrogans, serovar icterohaemorrhagiae.

Monoclonal antibodies (MABs) were produced against an ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) extract of Leptospira interrogans serovar icterohaemorrhagiae being characterized by gel precipitation as IgM and IgG (IgG1 and IgG2b). The EDTA extract was detected as several bands by silver staining in SDS-PAGE. In the Western blot the bands around 20 KDa reacted with a monoclonal antibody, 47B4D6, and w...
